Career Job:Oceanography Career Advice

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

If you are wondering how to become an oceanographer, below are tips and advice on training for and beginning careers ( job )in this area of the environmental sciences, as well as job prospects in the UK.
The Job Description
Oceanographers use their knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics and geology to study the seas and oceans. Examples of their work include conducting research into the effects of climate change, and exploring the impact of pollution and offshore engineering on marine ecosystems.
As an oceanographer, you could specialise in one of four areas:
marine biology – studying marine plants and animals
marine chemistry – anaylysing the chemical composition of seawater and the behaviour of pollutants
marine geology – studying the structure and make-up of the ocean floor
marine physics – as a marine physicist you would study water temperature and density, wave motion, tides and currents.
You would use a variety of techniques to collect data, including:
remote sensors on satellites
instruments on towed or self-powered submersibles
apparatus on moored or drifting buoys
probes lowered into the sea
drills to explore the seabed and acoustics.
Your work would vary depending on the area you specialise in, but will often include:
research and writing reports
presenting and publishing your findings
working with computer modellers to produce graphical simulations of your research
managing a project
leading a team of technical support staff.
Person Specification
The key personal attributes of good oceanographers include:
strong mathematical and scientific skills
good powers of observation
practical skills
good research and problem solving skills
a flexible approach to work
accuracy and attention to detail
good physical health and fitness for research work
the ability to work alone and as part of a team
excellent spoken and written communication skills.
How to become an oceanographer
To become an oceanographer you need a degree in a science-based subject (such as maths, physics or chemistry). As an alternative, you could do a joint honours degree, studying oceanography with either maths, physics or chemistry. Many employers also prefer you to have a relevant postgraduate qualification. For example, a good preparation for work in marine physics would be a physics degree followed by an MSc in Oceanography.
Many degree courses in this area include fieldwork and take around four years to complete. At postgraduate-level, there are taught Masters degrees, research degrees and PhD programmes. The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) has details of relevant courses and possible funding options; see Further Information.
To get onto a relevant science-based degree you will usually need:
five or more GCSEs (A-C) including English, maths and three science subjects
two or three A levels, including maths, physics and one other science or computing
However, please check with course providers because alternative qualifications may also be accepted.
Training and Development
As an oceanographer you will usually receive on-the-job training from your employer, which will often be combined with short courses, self-managed learning, seminars and conferences.
To help keep you up-to-date, the SUT has details of courses including a Continuing Professional Development programme offered by a group of universities known as MTEC (Marine Technology Education Consortium).
The Pay (a rough guide)
Starting salaries can be between £19,000 and £22,000 a year
With experience this can rise to around £36,000.
Job Prospects
In the UK, many jobs in oceanography are created and funded by the Natural Environment Research Council. You will find jobs (career )opportunities with organisations, such as the National Oceanography Centre (Southampton), Sea Mammal Research Institute and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.
You could also work within teaching and research at a university, with the Royal Navy, the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Environment Agency, and the Department for Environments, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

If there are specific organisations that you’d like to work for, it’s well worth making speculative applications. Volunteering can be a way to get your foot in the door – if you demonstrate your excellence as a volunteer, you might be offered a paid position when one becomes available. How competitive is it?

The heightened awareness of environmental issues means that there are an increasing number of jobs in the sector. It also means that more people are studying environmental subjects, creating more competition for graduate positions. The sector employs 1.5 million people, and more than 25,000 new employees will be needed in the next five years, according to Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the Environmental and Land-based Sector. It’s important to recognise that you don’t have to work in the environmental sector – you will be able to practise and promote sustainable development in practically any career.

Graphic Design Software You Need to Learn for Graphic Design Employment Cow Gum and Scalpels I've been working with graphic design software as a Mac/PC-based designer since 1994. My first job in design was actually in 1987, whilst Macs were still getting a foothold in studios internationally. Then I had (if you can picture the scene) a drawing board, a pot of Cow Gum, a spatula, a metal ruler and a scalpel. These were the tools of my trade as a paste-up artist; no graphic design software in sight! I'd receive pages of text from the typesetting machines downstairs. These I would slice up with my scalpel and roughly lay out on the page. Any photos or illustrations would need to be resized by the guys in the darkroom and passed to me to add to the layout. If the image was a fraction too large or small, back to the darkroom it would go for re-shooting. Once the layout was to my satisfaction I'd paste the art board (which had coloured margins resembling today's default InDesign or Quark XPress page) with Cow Gum, which would stick everything in place. An expanding dry lump of the same Cow Gum would be used like an eraser to clean the paste board of glue - thus: “paste-up” artist. By today’s standards it was a tortuous process. Notice also the “artist” part of the job title. It might not sound very artistic, sticking text and photos to a page, but having an eye for what looks good on a page was as relevant then as it is today. Apple Mac Graphic Design Software Revolution The landscape of today’s graphic design industry is unrecognisable in comparison. In just a few years the way the entire industry worked was changed - it was like a mini industrial revolution for graphic designers. Suddenly graphic design software made it possible to print proofs out instead of sticking them together and photocopying them! Deadlines became shorter as clients realised that they could get the same amount of work out of a studio in a quarter of the time. Today a simple advert that would have taken a paste-up artist three or four hours to assemble can be put together to a press-ready standard in minutes (assuming the design has already been thrashed out). And it can be proofed by e-mail instead of post or fax. And after being signed off it can be e-mailed to a publication - which has freed designers from the large in-house paste-up studios - freed them to set themselves up as freelancers and independent studios. Of course this is all old news - and there are a tremendous number of young graphic designers out there who did not experience the dubious benefit of learning the business at a drawing board covered in glue!

Learn About Graphic Designer Employment
What will you be expected to know as a graphic design employee?

Much of what you find on this website is basic, essential information for a graphic designer at the start of their career. Whether you're looking for corporate graphic design jobs or jobs in graphic design studios, if you understand and learn everything you find on this site, you'll be much better prepared than hundreds of other candidates. In fact, you'll probably have learned a few things that experienced designers still don't know.
You should be familiar with basic printing processes, notably the difference between 4 color process printing and spot color printing. You need to know what color mode should be applied to graphics and what resolution images should be set to before being sent to press. You ought to know how and why to make press-ready PDF files in PDF/X-1a format. You need to be able to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Quark XPress and Adobe InDesign at the very least.
You should understand what crop marks and bleed are, as well as when and how to implement them. You need to understand how to activate and deactivate fonts, and it would be useful for you to be able to recognise font faces, as well as suggest what fonts might be appropriate for a new project.
You should have a good eye for what looks good on a page. This can be taught to a certain extent, but it would be assumed that you have a creative, artistic temperament if this is your chosen career path.
These are just a few pieces of knowledge with which you should equip yourself before getting you first graphic design job. Start with a good grounding in the basics and the rest will follow as you become more experienced. Most of the above requirements are touched on within Graphic design Employment.com.

Learn About Graphic Designer Employment
What kind of graphic design projects will you work on?

Of course this really depends on the job you apply for. Every graphic design firm works in different ways, for different clients with different requirements on different design projects.
Corporate graphic design jobs tent to focus on a single company's material which can be a little more limiting for a designer. However, it gives a fantastic grounding in how to keep everything consistent within a client's marketing material portfolio.
You'll generally find that an average studio has regular requirements for logo and stationery design, brochure design, advert conception and creation, website design, exhibition or large format graphic design and other miscellaneous projects (catalogues, leaflets, report & accounts, signage and so on).
Chances are you'll get the chance to work in some or all of these areas, and each one requires a different approach and skillset. When training new designers, I get them working on real projects, and attempt to teach them everything they need to know for the job in hand, rather than swamp them with information which they will not yet need to know.

Learn About Graphic Designer Employment
Enjoy the work!

This is how you should approach the job. Don't be overwhelmed by the apparent enormity of what you need to learn; just take it a job at a time, ask the right questions and enjoy the work. If you don't enjoy the creative challenge and technical production of the project you're working on, chances are you won't produce good work. I always want to be proud of the work I produce, and no good result has ever been easy to achieve - you need to work at it until it's right.
And that's how you get job satisfaction. Enjoy!

Learn About Graphic Designer Employment
Are you a graphic design graduate wondering what might be in store for you when you land your first job? Or are you interested in starting a graphic design career and you want to know what the job entails? Naturally, every design job is different; but generally speaking, most junior designers tend to try their hand at many different disciplines when they begin working in the graphic design industry.
Certainly in my studio, this is the case. I want new designers to work on a variety of projects so that I can find out what their strengths and weaknesses are. This approach also makes the job more interesting for the designers.

Learn About Graphic Designer Employment
You won't be expected to know everything

Don't be afraid about gaps in your knowledge when starting jobs in graphic design. Your new boss will have a fair idea of what you can and can't do from the interview, your graphic design resume and your portfolio. Every new employer expects that a period of training will be required. In fact, a good designer never stops learning; whether it's a new piece of software, a different technique or a new design influence, you'll never stop increasing your knowledge and therefore your ability.
What a new employer will expect is that you learn about graphic designer tasks, methods and techniques quickly and retain your new knowledge. You'll learn to speed up your workflow by getting to know keyboard shortcuts instead of constantly going through menus. You'll learn how to maintain your Apple Mac or PC, and even resurrect apparently dead disks. Be eager to learn every aspect of the job and you won't fail to impress.

Learn About Graphic Designer Employment
Understand why before you learn how

As you learn about graphic designer employment, you'll soon find that the best way to learn something is first to understand it. If you understand why something is done in a certain way, it'll stay with you. If you just perform a series of tasks but don't understand why, there's a good chance you'll forget the procedure and/or make mistakes.
This is why you should never be afraid to ask questions. The more questions you ask (as long as they aren't the same question over and over again) the more you appear to be eager to learn and keen to get on with the work. An employer will be much happier about being interrupted with a stream of relevant questions in the early days that they will about being asked no questions by someone who just sits and stares uncomprehendingly at a screen, too scared to ask anything. When and How to Say "I Just Can't Do It!"

We naturally hesitate to tell our boss when we can't do something or are feeling overwhelmed in our job. Bosses don't want to hear that, right? Well, it depends.
In many situations, your boss is so busy that he/she doesn't keep track of how much work you're doing. When your boss gives you a new project, he's not thinking about all the other projects you're already working on.
And here's the kicker -- unless you speak up and tell your boss that you can't handle the workload he's giving you, he'll assume everything is fine.

This can have bad consequences for you AND your boss. You know what will happen. Eventually things will start falling through the cracks or you'll rush through tasks and start making mistakes.
You can only do so much in a day, and deadlines will be missed. While you're stressing out, work that your boss needs you to do is NOT being done.
When this happens, your boss will not appreciate your excuse: "But I had too much to do, I was overloaded with work!" Saying that AFTER the fact will be much worse than telling your boss up front -- before mistakes occur or deadlines are missed -- that you're having trouble with your workload.
It is your responsibility to tell your boss when you are overwhelmed, and there's nothing wrong with doing this.
Of course, you don't want to tell your boss, "I can't do that; I'm too busy." But you can say, "I'll be happy to take that on, but I need your help with prioritizing the other projects you've already given me. Which jobs can I put on hold or delegate to someone else while I work on this new one?"
That's way better than keeping your mouth shut, trying to do too much, and failing miserably.

Online Job Hunting?

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Everyone's doing it now - looking for a job online. But there are so many places to visit and so much information online. How can you make sure you're getting the best result from your online job search?
Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your time online.

Check Niche Sites:
As well as checking the major newspaper and online job sites, you want to look at specialty sites. Niche job sites target jobs according to industry. For example, if you are in the call centre industry, look for a job site that features only call centre related jobs. Often, these sites do a better job of categorizing and promoting opportunities. In addition, you aren't wasting your time sifting through thousands of jobs that may or may not be what you are looking for.

Use Search Engines:
How do you find these specialty job sites? Search for them through search engines such as Google. If you are looking for a job in the insurance industry, try searching using keywords like "insurance job canada" (without the quotes.)

Find "Hidden" Jobs:
When you are searching for a job at a job posting site, try searching specific locations. For example, when searching for a job in Ottawa, search also suburbs of the region like Nepean, Orleans, and Kanata. You might find a job closer to home and you might find something that others may have overlooked. Try also variations in the name of the job you are looking for since often job titles can vary.

Sign Up for Jobs Through Your Email:
Many sites offer these services and usually they are free. All you have to do is visit a site and sign up. You'll get the most recent jobs delivered right to you email. Make sure you check a site's privacy policies just to make sure you don't end up with unwanted spam. Often, you can select the jobs that will be sent to you by region, industy, part-time or full-time, etc.

Track Where You've Applied:
Be organized. Since there are so many places online you will be seeing, after a while, it all becomes a blur. But don't let it. Every time you see a great job that you want to apply for, send the job to your email. Include the URL and the closing date in the title so it doesn't get lost in your email inbox. Once it's in your email, create a folder called "jobs to apply for." Once you've sent in your resume, put it in another folder you create called "jobs I've applied to." That way, you know which jobs you are waiting to hear from. Once you hear from them, put them in another folder called "interviewing" or, if they decided to not entertain your resume, "declined." this is a great way to track jobs you've interviewed for, and which ones you've been unsuccessful at. You can easily find these positions again should you be looking for work 6 months from now when you have more experience.
Looking for work online can be a rewarding way of looking for a job. And the more you look, the better your research skills will become. Don't forget to look for niche sites and take advantage of services sites offer, like direct-to-your-email job postings. They can save you a lot of time and effort.

By EL Forestal

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Are you ready for the corrections officer physical fitness test?
If your answer is no, or you are in okay shape but need a little bit more work then keep reading. I've included some really simple workout tips in this article that will improve your strength, conditioning, and overall fat to muscle content.
The truth is some recruits have sailed through the correctional officer fitness test, while others have struggled mightily. I know if you are reading this article, you are dead serious about improving your overall fitness level. That's why I've written this article to help those candidates who are serious about getting a passing score on their corrections officer PFT.
You see, the corrections officer fitness test standards are different from agency to agency, but all of them are looking for recruits who are in shape. Seriously you don't want to show up to the test site out of shape or grossly overweight. Trust me if that happens, you might as well kiss your opportunity goodbye.
Here's how to get in shape fast:
The number one thing that you want to do when training for the law enforcement fitness test is to follow a workout routine that incorporates both strength training and cardiovascular improvement. If you do one without the other, you won't pass the test. The best workout program that incorporates both strength development and cardiovascular improvement is interval training.
If you don't know much about high intensity interval training, I suggest that you study up on this powerful workout program. If you include interval training to your regular training routine, you'll get into shape faster than you ever thought possible.

7 Strategies I Learned from Self-Made Millionaires About Achieving Personal & Professional Success

By Colleen Kettenhofen

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions."
Albert Einstein
After attending a seminar in Las Vegas this past weekend on achieving personal and professional
success, I walked away with a plethora of time-tested tools that can be applied immediately.
Many of the presenters were "self-made" millionaires, as I'm not talking about someone who
inherited it or married into it. These individuals, through grit, determination and calculated risk did
it on their own. Here are seven proven strategies guaranteed to dramatically improve your happiness,
and help you in achieving success in any area of your life, if you apply them.
1. Wherever you are today is a result of what you've done in the past. Take responsibility for the
choices you've made. Learn from them and move on. Let go of the mistake but don't lose the lesson.
Don't focus on the pain of your past, focus on your purpose for the future. This frame of mind alone can turn your life around.
2. "You become what you think about all day," Earl Nightengale once said. Have you ever noticed while driving your car that if you keep looking to the right, you eventually go to the right? Keep looking to the left and your car veers left? What you think about and focus on becomes your reality. So focus on achieving success and be specific with your goals.
3. The books you read and the people you interact with most determine 90% of your success. So surround yourself with successful, positive people. Join a mastermind group. It can consist of like-minded individuals all around the country where you talk by phone once a week. Attend business and personal development seminars to find the right people. Who are the people you spend the most time with? What about their goals, values and priorities? Do they have any goals?!
You are an average of the five people you spend the most time with. Try this exercise: add up their yearly income and divide by five. Most likely your income is within 10% of that sum. You can spend time with people less successful than you and feel like a big fish, but as you discover your passion and climb the ladder of career success, those same people will drag you down and discourage your dreams.
4. Make the books you read be about achieving personal and professional success. Invest at least 3%of your yearly income in personal and professional development books, CD's, e-books, teleseminars, webinars and the like. If you're pressed for time, listen to motivational CD's in your car. The average person spends 500 to 1000 hours per year in their cars. Turn your car into a virtual mobile classroom.
5. Reprogram your mind. You've heard the phrase "stinkin' thinkin'." To reprogram your mind with positive thoughts, spend a few minutes upon awakening reading inspirational literature or something
related to the field you are passionate about. Do the same thing within that last hour before bedtime.
The subconscious mind is most amenable to suggestion the first hour upon awakening, and that last hour before retiring.
6. The mirror exercise. Every morning getting up and every evening going to bed, give yourself pep
talks. At first you will feel embarrassed and ridiculous, but this technique is very powerful. Ruben Gonzalez, three time Olympian in the luge, was the keynote speaker this weekend. He told how his friend used to make him stand in front of a mirror and say to himself with emotion, "No matter how terrible it gets I am going to make it happen!" He would say this over and over until he believed it. Saying it with emotion will help your dream manifest itself more quickly. This is especially important in striving for business success.
7. Learn to overcome procrastination. Most people procrastinate doing something because they fear it.
For example, if you're procrastinating learning a new software program, take classes or hire a tutor. If that skill is necessary in helping you achieve an important goal you must do it. Also, do the thing you
like least first. The more you think about what you "should" do and procrastinate, the harder it is to get started, and your anxiety is compounded. Think how much better, lighter (and more confident) you'll feel when it's complete.
Celebrate your successes and reward yourself for even small accomplishments. All work and no play
serves as a de-motivator. The larger the success, the larger the reward. Have you ever noticed how
much you accomplish right before a vacation? You're looking forward to that reward, and you don't
want to think about it when you're on vacation. Do the same thing with these simple steps. Apply them. Work them.
Focus on your dreams not the fear. The price of success is huge, but the price of regret is worse.
Increase your self-belief and increase your desire. Ask yourself, "Who am I?" "What do I want to
be?" And go do that. Good luck.

New Stay at Home Jobs For Teachers

By Quentarius Wade

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Where did summer vacation go? The first day of school is fast approaching, and pretty soon those school bells will be ringing yet again. Another fun-filled year of lesson plans, staff meetings, countless trips to the teacher supply store, unruly children, inconsiderate parents, demanding principals, and yes... a paycheck so embarrassing that even your poorest relative has started a "pity fund" in your name. It's no secret that teachers have been the victims of a bad economy long before any well-known bank failed. Yet, while society views teaching as a noble profession, no one has kicked up any dust advocating for better teacher pay. Moreover, it's amazing that even though teachers are the only professionals that receive pay while being at home for two months, so many of them exit the profession within three years. Does this mean that these teachers chose the wrong profession? No, it just means that these teachers have counted the cost, and at the end of the day, it's just not worth it for them to remain. So what is the cost? The need to earn supplemental income to make ends meet. This coupled with an already demanding job, ultimately depletes the time teachers have for themselves and their families.
Let's face it, all teachers dream of reaping the rewards of their hard work. These rewards come in the form of job satisfaction, financial freedom, exotic vacations, paid off student loans, and providing a quality education for their children. Celebrities and athletes shouldn't be the only professionals who can enjoy these freedoms. So what's the solution to turning a poor financial predicament around? The solution is to utilize your skills and expertise as an educator, to start your own online tutoring business. Online tutoring is perhaps the most ideal business you as a teacher can start to achieve your financial dreams. By starting your online tutoring business, your earning potential is limitless, it can be run part-time until you can sustain your family (in other words, you don't have to quit your day job just yet, to run it), and most important, it's not a brick and mortar business that requires tons of money to get off the ground. Online tutoring has become an increasingly popular option among parents, as it is safe, flexible, and affordable. And the most appealing aspect is that it doesn't require any training. In addition, it's a business that can be started relatively quickly.
So, whether you are looking to earn supplemental income to repay student loan debt, take a well-deserved vacation, you've had it with school system politics, or you're tired of being chewed out by parents, students, and principals; starting your own online tutoring business is the solution for you. Additionally, online tutoring has noticeable advantages over traditional tutoring. The most noticeable advantage is that online tutoring is scalable. Meaning, that while traditional tutors only limited to a defined geographical area, you can tutor a child 3,000 miles away, in your pajamas (and you don't have to waste time in traffic). Your income potential is limitless!
What's your dream? What are your goals? Maybe by the end of this school year, you dream of saying goodbye your principal. Maybe your goal is to pay off those student loans, take that long awaited cruise across the Caribbean. Here are the steps you will need to take to get you there in 30 days or less! You have a choice to make, as you glance over at the calendar marking the first day of school. Let this be the year unlike all the others, that you decide you don't want to attend pointless professional development meetings, deal with those one or two students that add gray hairs to your head (isn't it strange how we always can depend on these students to show up each year), and let this be the last year that you juggle your finances enough just to barely be broke. Make a bold statement to enter this school year with the intent to make a difference in the lives of parents and students who appreciate your efforts, and change your financial destiny in the process. Let this be the year that you decide attending your child's school play is more valuable than arguing with an adolescent and his parents. Here are a few tips on how to start your own online tutoring business.
DAY 1-GOAL SETTING
Welcome to day one of starting your online tutoring business in 30 days. Before you begin building your business, it is important to know what you want to accomplish through your business. Starting an online tutoring business is not just about making money. It's a mission. It's a service. Isn't that the reason you've decided to pursue this venture? You've decided that you're ready to earn what you're worth. You enjoy teaching, but you're sick of the politics that come along with working in the educational system. You want more out of your life and you want more out of your vocation. But now is the time to write down what it is you want, specifically. What are your goals? What do you envision accomplishing as an online tutor? Do you want to run your business part-time, to supplement your teaching income? You may be quite satisfied with your teaching job, but could use some extra income to pay off some debt. On the other hand, you may have had it dealing with disruptive students and over-demanding administrators. Instead of recognizing you for the sacrifices you make on a daily basis, they complain about what you are not doing. Keep in mind that every action begins with a thought. With that being said, writing specific goals will require you to think about them. Now is the time to turn off the television, remove all distractions and begin to visualize your life as an online tutoring business owner. Goal categories may include: family, personal, career, and of course financial goals. Don't rush this process, because this will be the guiding force for you during moments of doubt. Close your eyes and see yourself as an online tutor. What does it look like? Jot down thoughts, feelings, and ideas as they come to you. Formulate your goals from this quiet time. One overarching goals among many teachers is to spend time more with their families. Of course we know that as teachers between lesson planning, meetings, and late evenings it is virtually impossible to give our families the time they need. Your online tutoring business can free up much of this time to accomplish this goal. Maybe you're a single teacher who simply wants to pay off student loans and take vacations. By starting an online tutoring business part-time or full-time, you can create sufficient income to accomplish this goal. The idea here is to think about and decide what it is you really want. I cannot tell you how many people become successful at starting an online tutoring business, simply because they know exactly what it is they want. So during those moments of doubt and uncertainty, they revisit goal number one, "I want to spend more time with my kids, and starting an online tutoring business will allow me to accomplish this." There is power in that, because you find something more valuable than a dollar to keep you moving forward. What are your goals?
DAY 2-CHOOSE SUBJECTS TO TUTOR
Now that you've completed the goal-setting exercise and you know exactly why you're starting an online tutoring business, now it's time to begin building our business brick by brick. Today you will take stock of your skills and abilities and decide which subjects with which you are passionate, comfortable, and competent. There would be nothing worse than getting dozens of phone calls and inquiries from parents asking you to tutor a subject you don't like, you're not comfortable with, and one in which you have limited knowledge. The reason you're starting an online tutoring business is to create an enjoyable lifestyle for yourself. Do you think this would be achievable if you're tutoring the wrong subjects? The answer to this question is probably not. So the purpose of this exercise is to decide which subjects you want to teach. This can simply be asking and honestly answering 3 questions: Which subject(s) am I passionate about? Which subject(s) am I comfortable tutoring? Which subject(s) am I competent in? When a student or parent asks you a question about a particular subject, they expect an answer immediately. And because you are live, the quicker you answer the better. If you are unable to deliver, this can hurt your online tutoring business considerably. And with the advent of social networking sites and blogs, they can quickly let others know how dissatisfied they are with you. In addition, you wouldn't want the added stress of tutoring a subject that doesn't interest you in the least bit. Does this mean that you shouldn't advertise those subjects in which you are not passionate, comfortable, or competent? No. It just means that you need to find tutors that are passionate, comfortable, and competent in those subjects. Your tutors will not only make your online tutoring business look good, but they will definitely add to your bottom line. We will discuss hiring online tutors later, but for now your objective is to do some soul searching and write down 3-5 subjects that you could tutor now if someone called you today.
DAY 3-CHOOSE STUDENTS TO TUTOR
So you have successfully narrowed down the subjects you will offer in your online tutoring business. Now it's time to match those subjects with the type of student you want to tutor. There would be no feeling worse than logging on each night to tutor a middle school student, but preferring to tutor a college student. I am in no way saying that it would be absolute drudgery, but you are starting an online tutoring business to take control of your own destiny. And there's nothing wrong with stating your terms. Many online tutors fall by the wayside because they become bored and disinterested in offering tutoring services to groups of students for which they have no passion. When you became a teacher, you chose the certification area that you preferred, right? Well the same is true for online tutoring. If you get a rush from the high level thinking associated with tutoring college-level English, then teaching blending sounds to first graders might drive you nuts. Whether this is true or not, you still have the power to choose what and whom you will tutor online. Now there will be times when you'll get calls from first grade parents. It wouldn't be wise to turn them down, but by completing this exercise, you'll at least know which subjects you're going to advertise. What grade level do you prefer? If you are already a high school science teacher and enjoy it (minus the politics of the school system), then chances are you will enjoy tutoring high school science from the comfort of your home. And if you do prefer tutoring high school students, I'll tell you that you have struck a goldmine.
These students often lead extremely busy lives, but education is a top priority. Parents are highly motivated to invest in supplemental educational services to help their high achieving students remain competitive...especially when these supplemental services are offered in a minimally intrusive environment. An online tutoring business can become a major business if you put the effort into it. The key is to invest your profits back into your business and try to grow it. You do this by hiring more people since there's a limit to what you can do by yourself. I hope this article has provided enough information for you to start your online tutoring business. It’s never too late to change your career

Thinking of switching your career? Don’t think it’s too late! It is ‘never too late’ to switch to another career if you are not satisfied with the current one!
People might think of re-careering (career switching) because of several reasons — they might not be satisfied with their current job, they might have found a rather better option (or a job of  dreams)! So remember all you people out there, it is never too late to pursue your dreams therefore — let’s say you have spent about 10 years in a field and then you are willing to switch from here — if you are 100 per cent sure, the new field will give you more satisfaction, just switch. Abandoning the idea of re-careering just because you have spent a long time in the same field is not the right approach of thinking!
There are a number of fields you can switch to — even after spending many years in the same profession. These are the fields in which you can get trained in a relatively shorter time period and can get maximum satisfaction too if the new line allures you more! Some of the careers you can choose to switch over and get trained quickly are:
Social work: If you have desire to serve humanity, and want to switch from your current job to a career through which you can serve human beings then working in NGOs is the best option! And you can get trained in it too very easily!
Teaching: If you have gained years of industry experience, and now want to change your field then a natural aptitude towards teaching (if you have) provides you with an excellent career changing option with maximum job satisfaction! You can choose to teach the subjects in which you have gained industry experience — it will enhance your skills as a teacher.
Freelance journalism: If you have a flair for writing and have an in-depth knowledge about current affairs, you can opt to be a freelance reporter or a feature writer for any publication. There is not age-limit for being a writer and you, even while remaining in your current job, can opt to become a freelance writer. The job is ideal to get you name! Happy writing!
Career counselling: A career counsellor is responsible for guiding his clients in choosing the right career plus advising him taking the right moves for achieving success in his current profession. If you have spent a reasonable time in any particular industry and have got to know about all its thick and thins; and now want to switch to another career, then you may choose to become a career counsellor too. A career counsellor is not restricted to guide his clients about his area of expertise only but about everything related to career guidance because the industry experience gives you detailed insights so that you can guide your clients belonging to various fields in an efficient manner!
These were some of the many options that you may choose to switch over from your current profession and do remember, career changing is never a bad move if you really want to; and are looking for a better future and more satisfaction in your new field.
